XOXO: Lindsay Lohan Was Almost 'Blair Waldorf' In Gossip Girl

There are some things in our past that we can imagine being different. Case and point - Leighton Meester playing Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. 

She WAS Blair and we can’t imagine Blair being played by anyone else. 

But, as it turns out, Blair was almost played by someone completely different and the whole series wasn’t supposed to be a series at first!

Before the book was adapted into a TV series, Warner Bros. were going to make Gossip Girl into a movie and Lindsay Lohan was supposed to be playing Blair!

Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was onboard to pen the script and the film was going to focus on Blair, instead of Serena van der Woodsen:

“The protagonist is Blair Waldorf, a beauty who is the envy of her friends. Unfortunately, her perfect world unravels as her bitter rival gets kicked out of boarding school and returns to Blair’s private school.”

This was during a time when Lindsay was everywhere on our screens - think Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. She would have been our Blair. 

Gossip Girl would have been a movie. 

Unfortunately, or fortunately, the deal fell through and it was picked up for a series instead!

Serious question, though:

Would *** still have ended up being Gossip Girl?! Because there are sooo many loop holes in that big ‘reveal’.
